Can anyone explain why there is such a variation in price from those few dealers selling Voigtlander products n the U/K
The service I have received from 4 of the shops has always been good, but there seems to be a large difference in prices appearing

the only place i've bought stuff from is Robert White and the service was good and the prices seem right

Robert White is the official UK importer and distributor of Voigtlander so all other dealers have to buy from them. This may be reflected in the prices. I would recommend buying from Robert White for these reasons

I've not come across any great variations in price in UK Voigtlander products. I think that Aperture Photographic in London have been clearing some of their stock but apart from that, the other sellers I know of all seem to be within the same price range - although the Robert White site always looks better because they list their prices exclusive of VAT.

I have been wondering how legal that is. If it was legal, I would expect other British based retailers would follow. I quite detest this. Makes comparing prices difficult.

Ffordes were considerable cheaper than Robert White for the VC 15mm, but have no stock ( I tried to buy one last week ).

£265 inc. VAT vs £310 plus VAT. ( i.e. £265 vs £356 )

However Ffordes order through the UK distributer, which happens to be Robert White.
So expect imminent UK price rises presumably due to the lack of faith in Sterling.

Joachim it's completely legal and a reason why they list their prices this way is because they are dealing with professional photographers who are VAT registered and overseas buyers from outside the EU who are VAT exempt. UK vat is at 15% which is an easy amount to add to the listed price with a bit of mental arithmetic.

There has been a series of recent price rises on CV/Zeiss products on the Robert white website - presumably based on the falling pound. Whether the new prices are applied to new or old stock I'm not clear.

In terms of service, I've found Robert White and Peter Walnes to both be excellent.

Oh, I believe the vat point is legel, provided you are a trade seller and not retail. So RW is basically a trade supplier as noted ablve and doesn't need to include vat in their prices.

It's not that unusual. I drive Land Rovers and the dealer I buy from advertises it's prices without VAT. This is for the reason stated above, because they sell many vehicles to VAT registered businesses and to Farmers who are VAT exempt.

confirmed appear to be old stock at the old prices at Ffordes - the photographic industry is looking at 15% price rises - buy it at the cheaper rate whilst you still can - big thank you to those shops that contine to support our interests and supply what we want -and not what they think we want

That black type is pretty darn hard to read with the format here. Wonder how many people are using a dark RFF background?
