Late Heads Up: Did Someone Get a DEAL?

Looks like that would need a CLA. Still a good price, but for my money, I'd rather get the $1300 M5, newly serviced by Sherry, on PNet.

$1300 for a CLAed M5 seems pretty expensive. Chrome or black?

black user ones sometimes go for under $500 on the bay.

$1500 for an M5 even serviced is still a bit steep, maybe within cost, but borderline.

That is quite cheap for an M6, but it could have been the bubbling; consider the cost of repair if you want a "pristine" sample, you'd easily run over an extra $400, so it evens out.

I bought 2 M6 Classics in the past year from KEH in "Bargain", one is an early Wetzlar which was perfect other than a small abrasion next to the eyepiece, and has the later meter circuit (and a new Leica body cover, which indicates it was overhauled by Leica). The other one is a very late production model, which some full-of-himself guy blacked out the "M6" and the logo (did he think his candid subject would think it was a ham sandwich with a lens on it? or that a thief who knows what a Leica is wouldn't recognize it?). Took me some effort but I re-filled the engravings in white and now it looks great. Both of them look better than the one in the auction, both of them have shutters that are 10-15% at all speeds, no fungus in the finder, no need for an overhaul. I paid less than $900 each, with keh's 60-day warranty. Bottom-line, IMO $800 for the one in the auction was not a very good deal, which might be supported by the fact it was bought by someone with zero feedback.
