Has anyone bought Joel Sternfeld's First Pictures (Steidl)? Looks interesting.
This book is published simultaneously by 7 publishers. Aperture states it's printed in quadratone, Thames & Hudson Ltd. in duotone according to their catalogue.
This is probably going to sound strange, but how does the book smell? I had in my hands czech edition published by Torst. It's printed on matte paper and the combination of paper and print colour smells awfully bad to me. Seems like I'm particularly sensitive to this smell, causing me headaches.... apart from this I can handle anything else 🙂
Rinko Kawauchi: Illuminance from Aperture.
Have only had to time for a quick flip-through. Nice book. Every page is French folded, each with a single photograph reproduced at the top with small margins around the top and both sides.
Curious about the not-yet-released, "Chromes". Steidl's 3 volume set of Eggleston images from his early color work (the same body of work from which Szarkowski edited the MOMA show and "Guide". US$345.00!!!
