Thanks for the recommendations, Im going to start with Love on the Left Bank. Also will look at the film, I've seen some short clips before, filmed from the trams in Amsterdam.

My wife suggested Santa to bring me that book i was waiting for: "A seventh man" by John Berger and Jean Mohr. Published first in 1975 is about migrant workers in Europe and is interesting both for the words and for the photos.

Yes, that's about what I paid (from Books etc, I think). You can now order the book from Amazon US via the amazon.co.uk website for £38 inc. delivery (which seems an odd state of affairs).
I finally cracked open the book this week and it doesn't disappoint.
