I would go with the Giotto/Schott Glass, model SP8250 protector for the M8. It's made of glass, with multi-layer coating and has a pretty good scratch resistance.
SUre, although I have an M8.2, I think one should still protect the screen from microscopic scratches. Actually I don't beleave the Leitz story that the screen from the M8.2 is better scratch resistant than the one from the M8. Therefore I use these protectors. I have a protector which I bought for about USD 4 and one cannot see the difference.
