Leaf Shutter lenses

.. Would Fuji do it?
I had a shoot yesterday where I used my Xpro1 and strobes.
Boy I wished for higher shutter speeds!

I would buy a Leaf shutter F2 or f2.8/50mm or even f2.8 or f4 60mm-75mm with speeds up to 1/1000.
It's not impossible or even difficult to engineer or machine for production.
To the contrary Fuji has lots of experience here.

Does the advent of electronic shutters really make leaf shutters obsolete?
Is "rolling shutter" in electronic shutters something that can be overcome?
Shoot I had yesterday Rolling shutter would not have been a problem... or at least i don't think it would but... the Xpro1 does not have an electronic shutter.

I just like leaf shutters. It could be a great addition to the fuji line up to add a leaf shutter lens in the Portrait focal length range.
Am I lost?

I am not aware of any camera right now that allows flash w/ electronic shutter as I remember but I could be wrong. On my gx7, if my memory is correct, the internal flash is disable w/ electronic shutter is active. I don't have my gx7 handy right now to double check.

electronic shutters need about 0.1s to read the entire scene which would make it too slow to capture a flash burst. we have to wait for a full global electronic shutter that would be a huge step up in photographic development. i believe some of the digital video cameras have it but not for photo cameras as of yet.

Andy, sounds like Fuji X100(s) + TCL adapter is your best bet for now. Not a cheap solution, but at least gives you 50mm f2.

I would buy a leaf shuttered 50-75mm as well.
