A heads-up for anyone in the U.K. looking for/needing a replacement battery for their M240 / M246 / M262 series camera’s.
They are in stock.
I was made aware by email last week by Leica Customer Care Wetzlar that the batteries for my M240 m-p would be in stock in the U.K. towards the end of this month.
It was suggested that I contact Leica Customer Service London (not the London shops) to arrange to buy one.
I telephoned Leica Customer Care London yesterday lunchtime and they confirmed the battery was in stock.
To buy a battery they asked me to email them so that they would raise up an invoice which would be emailed to me.
I paid through the link on that email and send an email back to Customer Care London (as directed) to confirm payment quoting the reference number.
In less than half an hour I received one further email from Leica Customer Care London confirming that the battery package had been collected and was now on its way tome and here was the DHL tracking number.
I received it this morning (Saturday) less than 24 hours later.
Seeing how much money the 2nd hand batteries have been listed and sold for on ebay I was pleased to pay £150 including shipping for a brand new battery.
Yes I still feel it’s a lot of money for a battery but given that both my 10 year old batteries are still working well if I can get another 10 years use out of the new one, what’s £15 a year for peace of mind and knowing I can use the camera for even more years to come.
Leica Customer Care in London only seems to operate Monday - Friday so if you want a new battery contact them on Monday morning onwards.
