Leica APO 90mm f2 on RD-1s?

Have some one use Leica APO 90mm f2 on the RD-1s?
My 90mm lens can't focus well on my RD-1s, but no problem with my other lens.

yes, I have, and the small rangefinder base of the rd-1 makes the 90/2 very difficult to focus accurately, but it is possible. If you can't focus it accurately at all, ever, then most likely the lens itself is off.

Theoretically, the effective baselength of the RF on the R-D1 is too short to accurately focus these longer lenses. However I had no problem focusing the 90mm Elmarit on the R-D1, even wide open. Practice makes perfect - maybe.

I have a very hard time focusing any 90mm lens at f4 or faster on the R-D1. That's why I got the 75mm Summarit. Much easier and much more reliable to focus on the R-D1. I never use the 90mm lenses on it any more.

I rarely use my 90mm lenses with the Epsons but f/4 is OK in my little experience. F/2.8 might work as well with a magnifier. Never tried the latter though. F/2 is way out of the accuracy range of the rangefinder. Its effective base length would have to be at least 60mm where it is only 38.2mm (49.6mm with the 1.3x magnifier).

There is absolutely no way to focus any lens >85mm @ f2 accurately on the R-D1, magnifier or not. The base length is not long enough. f4 is about the limit for accuracy on lens of that focal length.

I can consistently focus the Elmarit 90 2,8 on the RD1s without any problems. The Summicron does not engage correctly on my camera - I've heard this isn't always the case - but from my experience (being always able to focus the Noctilux where others have reported problems) I suspect that user-eyesight could be a factor.

Sometimes, I do use a Canon 100mm f/2.0 LTM with my Epson R-D1s. Seems fine to me. I also tried the Canon 135mm f/3.5 on the R-D1s and it was relatively easy to focus.

here's a shot, uncropped and unsharpened with the CV 90 Apo Lanthar 3.5 on the RD1s from New Years Day. i just turned it to infinity as it was a bright day and, well, it isn't really the best lens i've used but it took a picture...! really don't think the RD or this lens are designed for this kind of reach. the CV 90 as a portraitie kind of lens is pretty good, though. but other combos of camera and lens are more appropriate, i think. sorry, no knowledge of the lens you first mentioned...

Not too sure about theory, but when I got a 135 apo lens, I went right outside and took a few pics. Here's a quick one I processed.

folks that are using longer lenses-How are you framing the subject? Do you use clip on view finders or are you using the built in viewfinder after focusing?

I took some test shots and just estimate the frame using the rangefinder squares for the 135/3.4. It's close enough for me for the photography that i am doing.
