Hi!
I am using a Leica 35mm Summicron pre-asph and a 90mm /f2.8 Elmarit lens on a Bessa R2A body. Focusing to infinity and the cloest distance is no problem and all prints comes out ok.

But very strangely I found out when focusing a close range eg)3.5m, the focusing reading on the Leica lens shows aroud 5m.

Just wondering if anyone encounter this kind of problem, is it normal?

The focusing scale on leica lens is not fully complying to Bessa body?

Wondering if VC lens and Leica lens shows the same scale (I don't have a VC lens)? 😕

The Bessa lend mount is compatible with the Leica lenses, and should give sharp pictures at all distances. There are a couple of points to take notice of though;

The viewfinder magnification of the R2a is 0.7x, which is pushing it for a 90mm lens. Focus with the rangefinder a couple of times, and you'll notice that the focus marking on the lens barrel will be somewhat different each time.

You wrote that at infinity and closest distance, the photos come out fine. So I presume the rangefinder is correctly calibrated. The question is whether your guess of 3.5m distance is correct. Did you measure it? Are your photos sharp at these distances? If so, don't sweat.

Any chance that the 35mm lens was made to be used with "Goggles" for the M3?

Did both lenses give the same error? a 1.5m error at 3.5m is big. What do they indicate at 1m?

The RF mechanism can be on at infinity but off at other distances. If so, I suspect a trip to a repairman can put it in order.
