The amateur hour assertions and speculation pretty much speaks for itself. It seems like he didn't really care so much about what actually happened to the blog content but just wanted a forum where he could vent.

He's clearly not aware that Sony doesn't have a mechanical rangefinder. Perhaps I'm not aware that they do. Anyhow, people who buy digital Leicas are people who want a digital camera that they can focus using a mechanical rangefinder. I really can't think of any other way to explain this. It seems so simple and yet some will keep comparing Leica digital cameras with vending machines, trees, lamp posts, vacuum cleaners, Sony digital cameras, wood burning stoves, Nikon digital cameras, and those made by Canon. What is so difficult to understand? Mechanical rangefinder focusing + digital camera = Leica digital camera. Let's move on shall we? :bang:

Agree, the author lost all credibility with those two statements. But there's no denying the blog has changed and now has a more overt marketing look and feel. Even gone high brow, I'd say.

The blog has very recently undergone a makeover and a new design template has been adopted. It now has a more 'contemporary' look but as far as I know the content is the same and no archive material has been removed. It is quite possible (indeed quite likely) that the blog was taken down temporarily during the transition and this absence has led the writer of the referenced article to jump to a number of unwarranted conclusions.

Maybe they updated the CMS and the way links have worked have been changed?
It's fairly common...

But this guy woah seems to dislike Leica from the way he is writing this article. I think a normal person would just write "some links are giving a 404 error", but this is "some links are giving a 404 error AND IT IS LEICA'S FAULT IT IS A CONSPIRACY".

My guess, the author is pissed because all the links back to his Twitter, which are great for search engine ranking, have disappeared.

There are two valid reasons to cull the content, off-brand and not viewed. It's common sense in web content curation to remove content nobody is viewing.

The Leica Blog has been re-vamped in the last few weeks, but I don't recall it going missing completely. It appears that all the content is still accessible (the tags have been moved to the bottom of the page) and while it hasn't been updated in about a week, I put that down to the holidays, not Leica's fabled "inability to handle digital."
