thank you in advance for what i assume is an easy answer to a pretty basic question: i have a 2.8-5cm leitz m39>m mount adapter that brings up only 40/50mm framelines on the cl. i noted from looking on ebay that all 28mm adapters seem to be 28/90, but putting a 90mm m mount lens on the cl calls up 40/90 framelines, not 28/90!

so what do i do to call up the 28mm framelines?

thanks
tony

The Leica or Leitz/Minolta CL does not have 28mm frame lines. As stated above 40, 50, and 90. The Minolta CLE has frame lines for 28mm.

The instructions mention that the entire viewfinder is about the view of the 28mm lens while the outer edge of the 40mm fram is close to the 35mm angle of view so when using these lenses you can use these for framing. The only framelines are 40, 50 and 90. I've mounted a 28mm borrowed lens and agree the full viewfinder is very close to the 28mm angle of view and would not hesitate to use it vs an external finder. Never mounted a 35mm but suspect based on it being a Leica it also would work well. Hence, in real use, the CL has 5 lens size capability. Quite a lot more than most think. A well thought out design to include the more common Leica lens sizes without cluttering up the veiwfinder or making the framing pull up more complex than needed.
