I just bought a CL kit including the 40mm and the 90mm lenses. I was told the meter doesnt work, but was surprised to find on delivery that the shutter speed indicator across the top of the viewfinder shows no red index bar, so the shutter speed cant be read in the finder. The camera was shipped in its original box, although the top styrofoam was missing, and I suspect the camera was jostled in transit and this may have caused the problem.
Questions are 1) is this a common problem 2) is it difficult (or worth) fixing and 3) are there related problems I need to watch out for? The rangefinder seems to be ok, based on the readings on the distance scale on the lens.
Also do these C lenses lose their embossed paint easily? Theres alot of loss on the dof markings.
Thanks Much,
EV

If the meter isn't working, then there is no meter readout of the speeds in the viewfinder. No problem. Just look at which speeds you set the speed and aperture and buy a hand held meter.

I have a CL with a non working meter (most of the time) and the red band showing the shutter speed is still there. The CL with the forty and ninety lenses is a great package and I think it's very much worth getting fixed.

I'm negotiating a price adjustment. How much would this likely be to fix?
