So I have been looking for a camera to be a companion to my M9. A camera to take with me, when the Leica feels too big, or too high profile. I have played with the OM-D, panasonic point and shoots, Canon g series, Fuji x100, and for various reasons they haven't been a match for me. The an Rx-1 arrived yesterday.

At the moment it does everything that my Leica can't: 1) small, 2) autofocus, 3) high ISO, 4) close focusing, 5) video, and 6) good out of camera jpeg.

It certainly will not replace the M9, because in some ways it doesn't feel like a "real" camera, but it does fit that gap. Not cheap that is for sure, but as some on forums have said, if there was a Leica dot on this camera, it would be 5k.

I've thought since the RX-1 came out that if your Full-Frame M has a 35 mounted pretty much continuously, this camera could quite well do as a full replacement.

As for not feeling like a real camera, have you tried the 35mm optical finder, or the new EVF?

As for the dot, only $5k? Have you seen what Hasselblad wants to charge for what is, in all honesty, a Sony NEX-7 in a frock? The Leica version of the RX-1 would be at least $8k, especially as you'd be trading the Zeiss lens for a Summicron.
