Leica entering micro 4/3 finally?

Nowhere in the actual articles (here and here) does it say anything about Micro 4/3; in fact it says "at least APS-C sized", which rules out Micro 4/3.

That said, it's interesting.

Anyone thinking this will be cheap will be disappointed. I'm thinking this will still be priced above most cameras on the market.

I think he's corrected that.

I do hope they produce something innovative. Although I, for one, would have no objection were they to sub-contract some of the work overseas. It's great that they have European production, but if a camera made in two continents helped them hit the mainstream, what would be wrong with that?

dont think they would bring something with so small sensor. especially if this camera is targeted partly for former R-system users.

My Bad... Should have typed "Leica finally competing with M43"

Whoops, we posted at the same time... Although, I wouldn't get my hopes up about leica competing price-wise. I really hope they bring something innovative to the table though.

I'm not worried about the use of R-lenses (as I don't have any) but am still waiting for the X2 with a pop-up viewfinder in place of the pop-up flash, improved auto-focus and Hallo-Kitty edition.

Ok, possibly I was joking about the last bit.

The last thing m4/3rd need is Leica's meddling.
Olympus should make a contract with lens makers, not camera makers.

Get Fuji, Sigma, Tamron, Tokina, Schneider, Zeiss on board, and people will have a lot to chew on. In addition to those "toy lenses" makers.

Honestly, I have no issue with micro 4/3 cameras, but I just wonder how much life they have in them after its been show that larger sensors can go into similar size cameras.

I sort of agree. Some (I think Thom Hogan) did say that M43 was a dead end.

When I make my tire-kicking rounds and compare a NEX with a G2 or EP2 it's amazing how similar in size they are. And that's including the lens.
