Leica Event, May 10 Starts....

And what if it's all fake? Anyone could have created these images on the basis of previous rumors... that would be joke of the year.

Although the pricing of the 'Cron makes me dry-wretch, I am deeply intrigued as to whether or not Leica have managed to produce one of the technically finest 50mm lenses available...

I see no point to complaining about the prices. If you want Leica gear, you pay Leica prices. If you won't pay Leica prices, don't consider Leica gear. End of story.
True.

The price of the Summicron is regardless a huge surprise, if the (leaked) information is real. Sure, it is APO and all, but 7k for a 50/2. Wow. I did not see that coming. The M Monochrom price, on the other hand, is exactly in the range that could be expected and the product seems to be exactly what was rumoured.

Leica will sell more cameras at $8K than they would at $2K.

It is a luxury good, and a "bargain" compared to other luxury goods such as those made by any number of european houses such as Lanvin, etc.

It is rather depressing the number of people who are willing and able to spend $30,000 USD on a handbag or $70,000 USD on a watch, but the companies who produce these goods are thriving.

A new trend has started: "M".. Wait for some new versions like the X-Pro1-M, X100-M, D800-M, 5DIII-M, OM-D-M...

(I heard Ray-Ban too is working on an M- series)

um, could there be a firmware update that turns the M9 into monochrome, with the increase in ISO/resolution?

Wouldn't you love to be able to hack an M9 to try it?

I would.

Or better yet, hack an M8 to M8 monochrome.
