I'm planning a few paint jobs in the near future,
I'm set on getting a screw mount body to dunk as my test/control for a line of chemistry I have not previously used.
So I've found both IIc and IIIc bodies in the same price range (sub-200$)
Its going to end up gloss black, which would you like to see?
Let's keep it between these two models (I have my trusty old III that ide rather keep chrome...well brass with some chrome hanging in there)
Ultimately the camera will end up in our classifieds so I'm leaving the choice to you!

Get a IIIc, never know when you're really going to want (or need) the slower shutter speeds. Have fun with the project!

IIIc but either of them will look killer in black.

I would go for the IIc if you rarely shoot at less than 1/30th of sec.
No slow speed escapement governor to gum up and the IIc is a much rarer beast.

I was leaning a little towards the IIc for the simple reason you just do not see them as often.

IIc for all the mentioned reasons. Good luck, show your results?

Ooh!
We've got a draw 2-IIc 2-IIIc
Good ol' fashion German standoff
Johan, I'll be making a thread to throw random updates at, I'll make a mental note to link you!

+1 for the IIc. I have one and I like it a lot.

If you are going to experiment, wouldn't it be better on a more common example?
I would like to see a IIIc in matte green or khaki.

Regarding the IIc, wouldn't that drop the value of an already rare object? And significantly?

Go with the IIIc, since as mentioned it's a more common item.

As in my op,
I've found both cameras for sub-200$.
Neither of these cameras are actually rare, at least not from where I'm sitting.
I had the opposite inclination... I assume the value will increase considering the actual rarity of opportunity for anyone to purchase a repainted IIc or IIIc.
Green or Khaki sounds interesting, I'll be honest safety orange comes to mind!

No, they are not rare in a Leica IIId or Compur Leica sort of way, but the IIc is still rarer than the very common Leica IIIc non stepper.

Nice! Got 1 for Orange!
I could head over to HugoStudios eBay page and grab some their bright orange leatherette.
Im sure I could paint match the leatherette and it's cheap (30$ in the states!)
I'm feeling pretty inspired by this orange actually!

Found this example of a Red IIIf/st from Japan Camera Hunter done by Kanto Camera.
Thinking rally orange IIc!?

If Leica can offer up a Hermes edition MP in orange leather for ten grand, an X2 with an orange top plate, showing some love to a beater IIc by giving it new life in rally orange with chrome controls puts it in the realm of "special editions". Can't wait to see it!

MadNBad I was debating wether or not to paint the controls, I'm feeling the chrome!
Can we add to this mental image?
A mint Voigtlander 50/2.5 Skopar I stole from BH at the song they had it listed.

Just the lens I was thinking of. Add the LH-2 lens hood to complete the ensemble.
