Leica LTM Leica IIc or IIIc you pick for me!

Leica M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
Hammer tone is actually pretty difficult,

Ive tried a few of the "out of the can" finishes, but honestly never could get a look I liked.

I do like some of the work I've seen elsewhere online!

Two Issues have reared their ugly heads,

1.) Chemistry got spun around and will be delayed until mid next week.
2.) Very Faint RF patch on this IIc that arrived today.

Im debating my options, I do have a 6-month warranty, no question return policy.

Im thinking for the price I could pony up for a new beam splitter that should solve the problem or atleast send it to Youxin for a tune up.

Now... I do not really WANT to do that... but I really do not want to return the camera without having another IIc on deck (I do have the leatherette already) so my hands are a bit tied up in this one.

Maybe I should attempt to get a partial refund as the issue was not disclosed...

Throw me some input if you like!

Beamsplitter is $10 from nobbysparrow in Japan. While you've got it apart you can replace that and give it a service. At the very least do the beamsplitter, clean up the optics, and blow out the inevitable dust and film chips.

I'm pretty set on just doing the beam splitter myself,

I will obviously have the top off anyhow,

But still... Shouldn't I get a better deal for having to order the damn thing and install it!

Lol I know I like to dicker...

Update:

Work schedule has been a bit hectic but I did get the camera tore down this evening.

The pieces are soaking to remove the chrome as we speak.

Tomorrow ill try my new nickel stripper.

Edit: I have been able to scavenge a very nice clear and sharp beam splitter from my bin of Zorki/FED parts (I have both blue and yellow tint in multiples, blue looks better) Lol why did I not remember I have half a dozen complete RF assemblies...

Follow my new thread on the refinishing process!
