I think your right. I might have damaged it trying to load a roll.

I don't think this looks like a evidence of a film hurting the curtain. It is more likely that the lens mounted on the camera was under sunlight and acting as a loupe, thus burning the shutter curtain.

Been loading bottom loaders for more than forty years and the only trouble I've had, and have even today, is when I try to hook the base plate over a pin that isn't there.
