I'm not sure where I should post this but, I'm looking for a good place for new and used Leica in Hong Kong. I'm looking for Epson as well. If anyone can point me the place, if their is one, that will be great.
Thanks

Champagne court. Near TST station.

There aren't any good places in HK for used Leica gear. Not anymore at least. Champagne Court is strictly for window shopping only. For new and used gear I believe better deals can be had from Popflash.

It's getting hard to find good deals in Hong Kong for Leica stuff, the buying power from Mainland China has driven the prices of new and old Leica stuff over the roof.

Champagne Court is full of con-merchants. Beware!

Also, across the border prices don't seem to be lower. It's getting hard to find good deals in Hong Kong for Leica stuff, the buying power from Mainland China has driven the prices of new and old Leica stuff over the roof.
As far as I know: no Leica deals in Asia.

I third this, the only leica deal I found here was for my m6 which was going to be cheaper then buying one in the states and paying the import duty, but just. In China Leica prices are laughable, except new prices where it is often lower then in the states. But Zeiss prices on the other hand, HK has good prices if you shop around.

Well we are at the same conclusion, sadly.

Up until a few years ago the name of Dr Joseph Yao was always mentioned in connection with Leica in Hong Kong - he is (or was) a noted Leica collector / dealer. However a quick google search suggests that the most recent contact was in 2005 or so, and most the best recommendations date back to around the millenium, so it looks as if he is no longer active.
I do know that he was heavily and directly, personally involved with hospital work during the SARs outbreak in Hong Kong a few years ago - I believe close colleagues of his died through infection in the course of their work. My understanding was that he came through that alright, at least physcally, but perhaps it led to changes in his life. Certainly the SARs outbreak is about the time he stopped being mentioned in Leica circles.

CC72, thanks for these address, that's going to help.
Interesting story about Dr Joseph Yao. I saw his name quite a few times associated with leica, but didn't know who he was.

Dr Yao is still active. I bought a lot of stuff from him last year (including my Zeiss ZI, CV12, CV21...).
He has the best prices for Bessa, Zeiss and Leica in Hong Kong, you can contact him at joseph(at)yao(dot)com, he usually answers within the day and is very knowledgeable about leica gear. He only sells new gear, no second hand.
Do not hesitate to deal with him, he is very reliable.

Yes he has. It's at Mody Road, near Photo Arsenal. Let me see if I can still find the actual address.

Actually, I am pretty sure he doesn't have a shop. He has an office in North Point but it is not open to the public. He only deals on the internet and then you can collect the goods in North Point.

There are some serious non-touristy camera shops on Stanely St. in Central. Be prepared to bargain.

Thanks everybody, I'll be in Hong Kong this week or next one. I'll have a close look to the references you gave me. If I find something interesting I'll let you know.
