Australia/New Zealand Leica in Melbourne ?

Hey Melbourne'ites,

I'm in the city with the missus visiting her family and kept on a rather tight sked unfortunately.

Hopefully I can break away and get to the cbd to window shop. Which brings me to the question, is there a good shop that sells used Leica gear ? Probably not buying unless a great deal but staring at Leica cameras and lenses is always a fun time.

Michaels on the corner of Elizabeth & Lonsdale (if you are just looking). They also have an interesting camera museum, inside the Lonsdale St door and up the stairs. The Camera Exchange in Lonsdale St just up the hill from Michaels. Camera Lane in Little Bourke St on the corner of Hardware Lane.

Hi Fred, as mentioned, The Camera Exchange in Lonsdale street is your best bet. You need to speak with Dave, who runs the Leica area. The other two shops aren't much chop excepting the museum at Michaels.

You travel from Canada to Australia, your wife seems not to let you buy a camera, so you come on here to ask where to buy a camera?

Or at least stare at a camera!

Take what you've got to Melbourne with plenty of film.

I'd love to go there to photograph the trams.

@ jon..she's alright, she understands my camera affliction. she spends on telescopes and me on cameras. I've been good about keeping my needs simple lately. always fun to window shop however you have to make the trip down here. I think Melb is much nicer than Sydney imo (sorry sydneysiders). also brought tons of 120 as well for the mamiya 7 so will be kept busy in the darkroom when I return home

@wotalegend...that's good timing, was walking around and found micheals and the amazing museum. not much leica to look at really but they had a great book selection though ! also saw the camera store off little bourke.nice little shop. will try to stop by the camera exchange if I get back to the cbd.

Hi all,

Thanks for the info, it's been great. Went to Kangaroo Island which was fantastic, esp Flinders Chase.

I've got nine rolls of bulk loaded Tri X 36 exp I don't want to schlepp home so if anyone here wants it, let me know in the next couple of days since I'll be leaving Melb Monday night.
