Leica Kravitz Special Edition with Brassing?

OMG! Lenny Kravitz ???!!!

Nope.. still feel the same about it. Fake it till you make it did not work. ;)

I will still admit to liking the olive model released last week. Again, change the cover to black griptac and I would make it a user.
$10k with Summicron is actually less than buying an M-P and summicron separately. Finally a "reasonable" kit from Leica.

I've got to admit that is a gorgeous green.

I owned the Bessa r2 Olive twice. Never should have let it go. The flimsy rewind lever broke on the first one and I lost faith in relying on the camera since that point.
I really like the look of the green top and bottom, black grip, and chrome trim and knobs. Others may hate it.

I'm flat broke while creating a new biz endeavor. Otherwise i would easily pursue this Olive M-P as my "next decade" camera.
A Tenner is a big hunk of dough but hey... it's more like $7K if the lens is considered. :) (such a conciliating gesture )

It's not about 'dimwits', which on the Lenny K issue include the owner of this site and very many RFF members, including myself. It's about bad taste. If you need bad taste to finance your business then you are, as the French say ''up **** creek without a paddle''.

The old guard always thinks something new is in bad taste.

I like it because it makes all our brassing look like it's in good taste :)

Let's see some shots of "real brassing" please.

Is that a tabletop hockey game Frank?
What a cool idea for decor.

Thanks Andy! Canadiana, eh? For many years I had a beautiful cedar strip canoe hanging from my (high) living room ceiling. Guess I'm a closet interior designer. :)

Hi,

I'm just hoping one turns up in my local charity shops and is sold to me dirt cheap as it's obviously worn out and will cost a fortune to restore. Keeping my fingers crossed and thinking about selling matching lenses at a suitable price...

Regards, David

You people don't seem to get it. Since the sensor will not last long enough for the paint to wear off, Leica's response is to give you the brassing from day 1.

Ouch! Now there's a value proposition for the Marketing textbooks!

Cheers
Dez

There is total equivalency between dissing this edition and asserting that Leica M240 or M9 has THE BEST whatever.

Get it over it people. Stop pretending that taste is comparable.

Cynicism isn't the mark of some superior intelligence that supposedly justifies the international division of labor, it's just a sign of cowardice and fear.

Cynicism? .... lol....leave the Freud s**t at the door,
....more like i don't give a rats @rse what leica make or any other camera manufacturer for that matter. :)

Dez, I agree with your original post entirely. Special editions of any sort, and especially this one, just devalue the reputation of the company in my opinion. Rather sad.

In fact I would join in with the general kicking of the Leica name were it not for one thing. I phoned the factory in Germany recently to ask if they could supply a tiny part for one of my R4 lenses. I was expecting to be told that the part went out of production 30 years ago, but to my amazement the lady took my name and address and two days later the part arrived at my home in England. Needless to say I was astonished and absolutely delighted! Customer service like that is extremely rare.
