Observation: In discussions of the Lenny Kravitz special edition, many folks on RFF ask "Who is Lenny Kravitz?"
Thought: I suspect many belonging to the demographic that Leica is attempting to reach with the Lenny Kravitz special edition might ask "What is RFF?"
"Alignment" of Leica cameras (the brand) with Lenny Kravitz potentially has marketing value beyond the sale of 125 cameras. If you keep doing the same thing, you keep getting the same result. If you keep marketing your product in the same way, you'll keep attracting the same kind of folks.
I've played at photography for 40+ years, in fits and starts - Brownie, Spotmatic, Kowa MF, various Nikon SLRs, RZ67, Olympus DSLR, Sony RX100m3. Currently I have two M2 bodies and a few lenses.
My adult son is more photographer than I ever was, or ever will be. His 5D mark III and lenses are probably worth more than my Prius. But he doesn't really "get the whole rangefinder thing." I suspect the Lenny Kravitz special edition may be about that.
Personally I think a better approach would be for Leica to create an entry level "M-like" camera - somehow. My son started with a cheap Canon DSLR from Costco and grew from there. He grew out of the entry level quality stuff - and into the 5D Mark III level stuff - and never had to leave the Canon fold. With Leica the entry level is a used camera. I'm in the Leica fold and Leica hasn't made a a cent off of me.

Here's a look at some of the photo work of Mr. Kravitz. I find it interesting. Wonder if it was shot with a Leica.

Or maybe there's a glut of virgins...No, they appear to vary. So I suppose the T production is down and they had to keep the metal-rubbers gainfully employed.![]()

What's this now?!?! A Lenny Kravitz Leica????!!!!! Finally! Someone made my dream camera!
Alas, 125 Lennys appear to be too small a production batch !
I'm told the Lenny Leica is sold out !
Believe it or don't.
