Hi there,
I got my CL during autumn last year and has been using it quite a bit. It's a lovely little camera that I can take along everyday but I have an issue: it seems like there are some Leica lens that cannot be mounted on the camera. Like my 4th (pre-asph) 28mm Elmarit and 4th (pre-asph chrome) 35 Summicron. I just wonder if there is any more Leica glass that should not be used with the CL?
Your input is appreciated.
Regards,
Dennis

All I know is that collapsible lenses should not be collapsed when on a CL because of the meter stalk.

This is from the cameraquest.com website:
"M Lens Incompatibility Some M lenses will not fit on the CL due to the different finder setup. Forget the all M3 wide-angle lenses with eyes, the 135/2.8 Elmarit with eyes, the 50/2 Duel Range Summicron with eyes. You should not collapse the normals or the collapsible 90/4 Elmar into the CL's body as it may damage the meter. Wide angles which protrude too far into the body are also problems. These include the 21/4 Super Angulon and the earlier 28/2.8 Elmarits before # 2314921 and the very rare 15mm Hologon"

As far as I'm aware both the v4 28mm Elmarit and v4 35mm Summicron should be perfectly fine on the CL. The only ones you can't use are those that collapse or protrude a long way into the body and those with goggles as mentioned above.

Most collapsible lenses, that is. My CV f/2 Heliar Classic collapses quite safely into my CL. Other lenses that don't collapse very far, like the Macro Elmar, should also do so safely.

My 35mm 4th chrome Summicron doesn't work though.:bang:

What seems to be the problem with the 35mm Version 4? I'm surprised it doesn't work. And why doesn't the 28mm work? Too much rear extension?

Yeah - what doesn't work about it? I can see no reason why it wouldn't (unless it doesn't work on anything else either).
Yes, good point the 50mm Heliar Classic is fine on anything - it barely protrudes at all when collapsed. In fact it's really the perfect 50mm for the CL in a lot of ways.

My 4th gen (pre-asph) 35/2 did not fully mount on my CL (would not click, came close but not quite). Lens has worked on many otrher M's. Still have lens (do not have CL). Possibily some minor mount thickness variations.

There's a protective metal ring around the rear element of some of the newer 35s, I believe that it's this that fouls against the baffles on the CL and CLE.
