OK. lets do the math: roll of film x #rolls x years: 5 x 50 x 5 = 1250euro (1373USD).
In that case, I'll take two!!!
The affordability of digital Leica is a common topic, here and elsewhere. I only care because I truly wish to acquire a digital Leica as a serious amateur photographer -- what I consider to have been a key demographic in Leica's market up until recently. So, without thinking about actual numbers, I would like to see pricing targeted at my demographic, like it was in the past.
Now, my "affordable" would in fact be a higher number than jschrader's because I would also attach the cost of my time spent developing and scanning film, along with the costs for those activities. I also consider Leica's cost of developing a revolutionary camera, but not as much as Leica thinks I should. However, I appreciate the logic jschrader is applying. And.....I do wish the MM was within my budget. Arbitrarily, that would be between $1500 and 3500, depending on my son's college tuition, medical bills, house repairs, etc., etc. Again, that's my arbitrary number, based on my current financial situation, among other things. Oh, and I did pick up an M8u one or two years ago. My real desire is a "good" M9 or better yet, an M240. I'm not caught up in the debate over CCD vs. CMOS. I find the image quality of both to be wonderful.
