Well-known
Ok, I overinduged in an M 8 . I love it , even with just 50mm screw lenses borrowed for Leica IIIc / III f and USSR cameras , and the potential for my Minolta lenses with adapter .
But I would love to waste the rest of my modest inheritance on a DSLR - mostly for close ups and table top model [ i.e. toys ! ] pictures .
Adapters allow virtually any MANUAL SLR lense to be used '' guess focus '' on the M 8 . Great !
Perversely , the Minolta MD / MC lenses , but they won't fit on ANY DSLR - just my luck ! Not so great !
However , auto focus lenses will not work on the M 8 , 'cos there is no aperture ring . So the Sony ex Minolta is out of the running .
Most budget DSLRs will not allow manual focus lenses to be used - I have been directed to a Nikon D 200 @ £ 700 , body only .... £ 600 used with 1 year warranty . + lense !
Now, the M 8 kinda stretched my budget , and I was thinking about £400 max , preferably with an introductory point and shoot zoom , plus a few older lenses gradually gathered in on e-bay .
I am not bothered by which system - Canon / Nikon / Pentax Bayonet , but I would like to use a Helios and Industar , maybe Biotar , 49mm screw lenses on it 'cos I like the vintage look of the 30s Leitz Elmar clone on the M 8 , but I gather that all these systems will acept 49mm with an adapter ... ?
HELP !
