Leica M-A Finally Back In Stock @ B&H

My M-A just feels so much tighter, smoother, brighter VF with shockingly bright RF patch compared to my junky, stinky ole M3. And my M3 DS - what a jalopy! Just don't get me started on the M2 - a true heap with it's bogus mechanical exposure counter and cheapened RF unit. Jeeesh!

p.s. new stuff costs more than old stuff.
Huss: Have you considered switching the cases out?

The case on the M-A would allow you to use the self-timer on the M3.

Thanks BillBlackwell for the detailled list, I'm not (yet?) on the market for another film camera (happy with the m7, Bessa, etc) but always interesting to know these differences.
I neglected to mention that the meter circuitry is very different between the M6 and MP. The MP meter circuit board has more in common with an M7 than an M6 (and they are NOT interchangeable). These applicable (M6) spare parts are still available through Leica.

That's what Leica thought when they took it out of the M4-2. It was never suggested this "fix" (put back in with the introduction of the MP) eliminated RF patch white-out, but it does help prevent it. As you say, the only flare-free finder is in an M3.

The original Leica release about the MP called the finder ‘flare free’. That disappeared very quickly.

Not trolling, but an honest question. What do you find so tempting about the M-A film?

I'm an M2 user, and if I had the money I'd be tempted by the M-A for a few reasons. Mainly, the M2 has everything I want in a 35mm rangefinder and nothing I don't, and the M-A is basically an M2 that isn't 55 years old.

I love my M2, but since 2017 it's spent a frankly ridiculous amount of time getting repaired. Being able to purchase basically the same body straight from the factory, and not even have to think about servicing for a decade... That'd be real nice.

All a moot point, I definitely don't have the money 😀😀
