Hello

I currently need to buy some replacement parts for one of my LEICA M and LEICAFLEX cameras. I am aware that I can buy them from LEICA directly or look for them on EBAY.

However, I was hoping someone on the forum could point me in the direction of an inexpensive source for LEICA parts for these older cameras.

Thanks

There's a guy on ebay named John Alex, who seems to specialize in taking Leica cameras apart, and selling the parts. He is based in India. Everything in his pictures seems so dusty and grimy - perhaps it's due to where he lives. A couple of weeks after my purchase, I received a cloth bag which had been sewn up, and closed with sealing wax. The bag too, was very dusty.

I bought a "like new" Leica IIIF top plate from him. It looked mint, except for the grime. Unfortunately, he shipped it with hard cardboard right on top of the plate. This cardboard rubbed a bright mark onto the plate where it was in contact. The plate did clean up very well with some rubbing alcohol to remove the grime. The bright mark was still there, unfortunately. DAG has installed the plate, and the camera looks a lot better. I still have the original plate for accuracy of documentation.

So, if you can get over the grimy pictures, you may give him a try.

Don Goldberg (DAG) also has a lot of Leica parts for sale at a reasonable price. He didn't have a IIIF RD top plate, however.

I did not mean any harm.

I know that DIGITALINTRIGUE has an excellent reputation on the forums.

I posted this question for a friend who owns a LEICAFLEX and is not very computer savvy, so, he does not belong to any forums. I just wanted to put him in contact with DIGITALINTRIGUE and hopefully solve my friends need for parts and maybe give DIGITALINTRIGUE some business.

Is this a better answer?
