Leica M-D: Pure for the sake of . . . purity?

Why wouldn't they employ the fake advance lever for shutter cocking to give it some purpose is beyond me.
It would be great if they followed Ricoh and made displayless digital camera with analog controls and an advance lever with an actual purpose...

Yeah I wondered the purpose of that - I much preferred the M-D 262. Made a lot more sense and was a much more straightforward design, plus the ISO dial on the back is great.
