Nice to have a bit of ink! BTW how many photos are you able to show in the space?

Don't know if you have any writer friends, but if you do, might I make a suggestion: Have a 'press release' done up (and maybe include a printable photo or two), and then you can distribute it to various news outlets. Then they'll have a 'ready made' item that they can run without them having to do anything. Don't know if the Chicago Tribune has a Friday Arts section or something, but you could send it to the arts editor and hopefully they could run it. Same with the Chicago Reader etc.

Reason I suggest this is that a writer friend of mine offered to do one for me for my current show, and all I provided him with was my artist statement, bio, and some additional info, and he created this really great press release. Not sure what kind of coverage it will ultimately have, but you never know unless you do it. Plus, it's nice to have someone take your words (and what they know of your photos) to create this well-articulated statement. My friend wrote things in such a way that it actually opened my eyes to a few things that I hadn't considered.

Sometimes I think that artists/photographers can be their own worst enemy in terms of artist statements, editing etc (and believe me, I am no exception!), and it's a breath of fresh air to read the perspective of someone else as far as your work and intentions are concerned.

Vince,

Thanks so much for the advice and yes I have a very good friend that is a great writer.

Space isn't as big as my last show here in Chicago but it is a lot nicer space. I had 35 prints in that show. This gallery wanted 16 approx 18 X 12 prints mounted and matted on white 4 ply museum board in simple flat black 20 X 24 inch frames. Just finished printing, mounting, matting and framing last week.

So the hard work, besides hanging the show which the curator will do, is done.

Thanks again Vince and I will drop my buddy a line,
Allen
