Leica M Monochrom: best pics

A few days ago, my M 246 arrived, same day as my children, followed by a party/reception for them and for us in our new home.

These are 35/2 Biogon and 50/1.4 Summilux.

Thanks, Richard. I agree :) Quite impressed with this lens too, though unquestionably Leica lenses are better...but after buying the camera body, I had little money left for the lens. But, there is no hurry.

One of the key things I learnt here is that Leica is not all about the glass. It's the M camera and controls, the rangefinder method, the bright line frame lines, the scale focus etc etc. Three of my favourite lenses are Zeiss: the C Sonnar 50, C Biogon 35 and the C Biogon 21, all fantastic on the CCD "M9" Monochrom. Especially that 21.

Nice work, Robert. Just a tantalising glimpse of an archtop guitar in the second shot. Left me wondering what it is...

Yes, it’s like showing a little leg, except at the neck end...

One is a D’Angelico style by Shiro Tsuji, the other a Teigen. (There is a short history of the former on JGF, to be found by googling the luthier’s name.) Both are wonderful instruments I practice most days.

At some point soon, I will study the stringed instruments Linn and I have, with the new-to-me lineup in lenses on this new-to-me M. Might even use a tripod!

It’s good to be here. Thanks for keeping an open table at the MM cafe.

^^^ Starring the tree and its shadow, but with good ensemble support from building, street, and bike.

I like it, Robert. The deliberate awkwardness of your framing reflects well the awkwardness of his posture. And I like all the industrial-looking angular abstracts on the wall. The whole image seems to resonate with awkwardness. I hope you don't mind this reading!

Another quiet evening but keeps me out of trouble with the MM

P.S. Welcome to the thread Rob, enjoyed seeing this cat and your others on LUF :) Timing with kitty could not have been better!

It’s the only reading I can see. Thanks.
I shot from my knee, I liked everything in the frame, and the skewed angles have a whiff of Dr Caligari preferable to what’d be lost in tidying.

Long Story but I had the fatherhood privilege of driving my daughter across Highway 20 through North Cascades National Park so she could take SAT this past weekend. ...seen here adorning a lookout over Ross Lake.

All good. A beautiful daughter, of course. But I do love that first photograph. Each bit has interest.

Richard,

Thank you for your kind words. For sure the third pic of my daughter was just for context -a fun snap. I did manage to get a better one of that scene with clouds not blown out, but the first one as you say was the keeper.

While Ava took her SAT in town of Omak, I got a nice bike ride in and then clicked a couple downtown. The one that I particularly liked is posted but under Words/No words -Signs.

Cheers,
David
