I know this is late in the post, but daaaaaaamn! Nice!
I just ordered a Monochrom & 50 Summilux asph. Should be here early next week...I'm doing cartwheels.![]()
Congrats. A Monochrom with a 50 Lux is a great rig. The flexibility in film speed and high ISO is awesome. You are a lucky guy. I'm an old film die hard, but there are things that I can do with the Monochrome that I can't do with film.

Thanks! I had slight hesitation about maybe getting an M9p or waiting for the new M. I have never had a digital Leica, so needless to say my GF was not exactly thrilled about a BW only camera for the price of a car. This post has helped me make up my mind. I do have an xpro if I "need" color. Or I can always throw a roll of portra in the M6 right?

I was once an old retro film guy who went to art school in the 70's. I am so old school that I wouldn't use a cell phone untill my GF gave me one and FORCED me to carry it.
Back when the rumors started about the possibility of a B&W digital camera started the naysayers started a major bashing, but some of the facts on B&W sensors already was suggesting a big advance in performance. I stated back then that if Leica builds such a camera that it would be my dream come true and that I would have to buy one.
The result was as if Leica was stalking me personally on RFF and especially designed the Monochrom especially for me. I hate complexity, and deep down I'm just a lazy slacker. It seems that Leica gave me only useful features and no extra features I would not use.
The high ISO performance offers images I could never accomplish with film, and it is easy to use. I still shoot film, but I no longer have a need for Tri-X in 135 and only shoot Acros in small format. Because I'm a lazy slacker no scanning ever for me. Five of my cameras are medium format and I shoot a lot of 120. I get MF resolution and near MF contrast dynamic range through the use of filters to control clipping. Also the clipping indicators along with the histogram are great tools.
Know that I still shoot a lot of film; know that I didn't have the money to buy a Monochrom; and know that it was good that I got on a long waiting list and waited 5 months for my camera because of the lack of funds. I can't see a replacement for the Monochrom, and to me it is a camera without a peer. Perhaps the only thing Leica could do to come up with a more advanced B&W only digital is to make a B&W only version of the S2. HINT-HINT.
No regrets.

Hello Mike,
thanks for your comment, I agree she was the most interesting subject of the 3 sets being played. Just a joyful expression and lots of fun in her playing and of course the interesting hair styling
