Leica M Monochrom: best pics

Cal, thanks! Your images and reports were part of why I decided to go for the W Nikkor. It's a stunning lens worthy of it's high regard.

Great work to all above (Dirk, Vince, David, Allen, et al)

A couple more from me:

Particularly good at night, wonderful midrange pop, and detailed rendering. Since I have and love my 28 Cron the 35/1.8 Nikkor saves me a lot of money because I don't need a 35 Lux ASPH pre-FLE. I regard this lens that highly.

Cal

Post Script: to me the 28 Cron and 35 Lux ASPH pre-FLE have very similar rendering with smooth OOF. The coice between the two lenses are really only perfered FOV. The 35/1.8 Nikkor really displays great character on the Monochrome. Although not an inexpensive lens due to its rarity, it is a lot less money than a 35 Lux ASPH pre-FLE.

Nice Monochrom shots - I am jealous

Not sure this is posed or not. Reminds me of a shot I missed many years ago in San Francisco where a beautiful lady had been kicked to the curb with all her belongings by her sugar daddy. She looked a lot like this lady - dressed impeccably and looking like a very classy lady with several trash bags around her with her belongings.

I envy you guys and the Monochrom. From what I see online, the tonal range and resolution of this piece of equipment is absolutely outstanding. But the Monochrom is well outside my price point sadly

Jay!!!! So good to see you here!!! Great posts. Love the snow roof shot and the young woman and her hair...can't wait to see more of what magic you can coax out of the camera...

Here are a few from this eve...

Another gig with the Monochrom, pretty shocking good in very low light as usual. For this one I used the 50mm Sonnar and, instead of the Summicron, 35mm Voigtlander Classic 1.4 (first concert with it, can't complain).

Improv quartet Otomo Yoshihide (guitar, turntable) Roger Turner (drums) Guillaume Viltard (double bass), and Alex Ward (clarinet):

Planet D Nonet at Cliff Bell's on Park in Detroit - these guys do Jelly Roll Morton, Billy Strayhorn, Armstrong, Ellington, Sun Ra and more - just real good time jazz. One more of co-founder James O'Donnell, working the Bell's crowd:

The more I shoot the MM in clubs, the more I'm liking it. These were iso 2500, typical mixed stage lighting, 50 asph or 90AA.

Very nice series, Mike. Especially in such a club setting the MM is such a joy to use, I totally agree.

Here a few from the Jersey Shore :

35 asph

The Casino Pier Roller Coaster in Seaside Heights.
Plans are to remove it before Memorial weekend :
2/90

"It's for you honey" , 2/90

At a local camera store :
Red carpet event, Opening of the Leica Boutique, BCC Westwood, NJ, 2/35 asph

Klaus I really like #1 Jersey Shore....

The shot of the road and the white stripe Vince is very nice.

Great low light stuff both Mike and Fabio...

All those photos in my last post (with the exception of the last photo) were taken with a 90/2 screw mount Summicron (yes, a genuine SEOOF), but unfortunately it has fungus in it that is not repairable. I only paid $290, so I might as well just use it!

Vince, Klaus, Michael - enjoyed all your shots. Quite curious re the older lenses on the MM. They seem to image especially well, given their age, or is it my eyesight or my monitor?
