A very nice combination indeed; these were shot at ISO 2000 with no add on viewfinder:

Yeah it definitely catches your eye coming into Farmington!

I thought my camera needed some height for that shot, so I put the camera on my tripod, extended all the legs and the center column, and hoisted it all into the air as high as I could. I have about 10 different versions of the shot - I think it still needs work (and this may not be the best version), but I'll save it for when I get back home.

Vince I am so jealous. I have never spent much time in the area you are traveling in now. Do you plan on working your way west on 64 to Taos? You have probably done this and not sure about trying this now, winter and all, but maybe NM 38 up through Red River?

Great stuff and nice additions to your other work from NM.

I've never been up in this corner either, so it's all new to me. My current plan is to head up 550 to Durango CO, then east, and then back down south to Taos. After that who knows!

If you haven't been to Silverton and then up to Ouray you really should to do that. It's just a bit farther up the road and well worth the journey. Again I am so freak'n jealous....

Have a safe journey and I know you are coming back with the goods. Can't wait to see more..

Vince, if you're going back down to Taos I suggest traveling east of Alamosa on 160 and visit the Great Sand Dunes NP. Then, south on 159 through San Luis and Questa to Taos. Just keep an eye on the weather, there's a major storm coming to the plains this weekend.

Thanks Jim - I'll have a look on the map for that. I'm in Pagosa Springs right now. Durango was a bit of a waste, though Bayfield (just to the east of it) was productive.
