Leica M Monochrom: best pics

Thanks everyone!

Nothing like a good black and white M camera and a small 35 Cron! It’s a point and shoot at f/8 - f11.

FYI: I used a yellow/green filter, which I find as a nice balance of getting the right tones.

Being able to be quick is necessary with children.

A yellow/green - do you mean like Kodak #11, B+W 060? I am still always amazed how little yellow-green or green filters lighten foliage. Plant pigments are interesting.

Thanks,

Marty

Thank you, David. I really enjoy your contributions as well.

Below, our community pool, formerly a deep rock quarry. While there yesterday, I had to shoot around the police dive team. They had cut a hole in the ice and were taking turns at training dives. Yikes.

This was from one of the first days of actual street shooting having gotten used to the camera. I should crop it to a square format.

I finally sold off my M7 and MP to fund the M10 Monochrom. The files are a far cry from the plastic skin look from 10 years ago when I briefly tried out a DSLR. As a film shooter and still do shoot medium and large format film I curbed my expectations about the Monochrom but am very happy the files do look like scanned low iso film. And it's liberating I can shoot it at any iso. All of a sudden I want to replace those f1.4 lenses with the slowest and smallest I can find.

Congratulations on your M10M, and nice photo. That's quite a big step, parting with an M7 and MP. I agree there's little need for 1.4 lenses with the Monochrom, at least for street work. And small lenses are wonderful. Look forward to more pics.

Nice, Allen. Hopefully a metaphor for what's coming soon.

I get my second vaccine shot in two weeks, and hope to hit the city streets again shortly after. Although, with the pandemic I started shooting square land and urbanscapes and have really been enjoying it. That may be a new direction for me.

Hi John,

Good luck and glad to see you are getting your second shot. Hopefully just one more step towards more normal.

I have had both of mine and the wife gets her second later this week. I did finally get out some this past weekend as you can see. Still rock'n the original MM.
