Erik is observant! Helen, I'd noticed that dark band in this pic sort of in passing as just part of the lighting, but I think it doesn't hurt the compositional balance at all. I was paying more attention to the atmosphere, which is intriguing.
But on re-examination it does seem to be a technical problem. As I recall, you're "souping" your own film now? It's most likely low developer level in the tank, leaving a light band along the top of that whole roll. So if that's it, it's avoidable in future by more nearly filling the tank.
My first thought upon Erik's observation was that you might have used some flash illumination with a shutter speed higher than synch speed on a camera with a vertical-run shutter. In that case, the fast shutter could shade some of the film frame from the flash. But you're using a film Leica, right? Horizontal-run shutter, then, and this scenario wouldn't fit.
