hey, helen, thanks!
my son shoots me...

I believe the angle may reflect his view of old dad, being somewhat skewed (to the left, no less... well, metaphorically anyway, since this is stage right).
I was proud enough that acceded to the wishes of the two women in my life and trimmed about five inches of beard from my scruffy face (literally, this was a pre-condition of attending).

How FAB to 'MEET' the Famille...Lovely !!
admittedly I probably AGREE w/ your TWO FAVorite women
trimming that 5 inches off made YOU the Cool Man Dude

Maggie, thank you for pushing my nose on the wonderful Summaron!
I found one by chance a few days before and simply loooove this little gem of a lens!

Surprisingly to me, this 59 year old thing screwed in a Voigtlander adapter, popped on my M8.2 and just works - sharp, lovely low contrast and astonishing mechanical feel and quality!

I have it on the M now at all times ;-)

Here are a few candids from Shanghai:

Thanks for looking ;-)

Semrich, great! I assume that's "his" cafe you took his portrait in? I'll come to Istanbul on Monday, I'm quite exited.

Martin, yes it is Ara Cafe in Beyolu. It is not actually his cafe, it's his building and he rents the space for the restaurant.

I had stopped there with another expat friend who bought his book to see if he was around to autograph it for him. Afterwards I asked if I could take his picture, I leaned back as far as I could in my chair and took this at 1/20th while he played to the camera by ripping a piece of paper up. Above him is a large print of one of his photos that line the walls of the restaurant.

How long will you be in Istanbul and what is your schedule?

Looks like you're off to a good start with the little gem, too! Nice work! Glad I could be a small part of it! :D

Thanks Maggie - it was the combination of wonderfully smooth rendered background and low silver looking contrast, this lens produced in your shown photographs ;)

The best is, it makes the M8.2 even more compact and l i g h t !
