Thanks, Ted! Restaurant server, glistening with sweat... I just spontaneously asked her if I could snap her picture, and she agreed, posing herself. Interesting chat; generous tip.Strong portrait, Doug.

I'm always impressed by the work of the folks who frequent RFF. I have learned so much technical knowledge the past few years, not just about gear, but about how to make better photographs. To be honest, though, it was only recently that I've started going to some individual websites and flicker pages and have come away astounded by the talent! It's both inspiring and depressing--depressing because I have so much to learn!

Only be depressed when there is nothing to learn from those around you. Learning should be an exciting, never-ending journey that is like infinity in that you can only approach it and never attain it fully. The resources here are amazing, enjoy them, never feel intimidated, only inspired.

I do my first baby steps in large format shooting with a Graphic 4x5 and Fuji instant film.
Here are two portraits, first shot with Noctilux and then with the 4x5 (that day all shots came out veeeery underexposed :-( Might it have been the cold? I had the film not peeled apart 2 minutes after pulling [confused]
… and one more with the Noctilux, which I used in favor of the clumsy Graphic, as it started raining:
