Erik, I didn't notice this photo when you posted it but it is an excellent environmental portrait, bravo!
Just curious, any info about her? It seems she's a painter...or a writer...or both...

Thank you, Robert, yes, she is a painter, not a writer.

Curious. Is that strap secured via his jacket button? Could be a very efficient technique here... I'm always just dissatisfied with wearing my cam on a neck strap, but then equally unhappy just holding the camera, HCB-style. This looks different yet.
Lovely image BTW.

Erik, For quite some time now, I've noticed that EVERY image you post is just magic. Aside from the fact that you are an excellent photographer (composition, etc.) you do something magic in your processing. I struggle mightily to get such tonality and "quality" as in your images. I even went out and bought the same film as you use, but that's not enough
Anyway, another beautiful image.

It is. It's a wrist strap with the button going through where your wrist would go. It comes right up to his eye for vertical and horizontal shooting and when he has it down it rests right in his coat pocket.

Beautiful indeed. Shows a lovely intimate connection between Erik and his images. Technically brilliant but more importantly, pictorially and creatively heartfelt.

this is exactly the kind of contrast, sharpness, mood i am looking for. i was seriously thinking of buying any other 35 instead of the summicron because of the price. but i will bite the bullet just because of this you posted.

There are GREAT portraits in this post. I like in a special way the work of giulio, Erik, xdayv, SEM... and the others are very good too. Congrats.
I will try to share with you some of my portaits I have taken with my M5 and 35mm (Ultron):
Both with HP5 Plus shot at 1600ASA.

I cant agree here.
This thread is getting worse and worse, half of the photos has nothing to do with portrait being just random photos of people and even animals.
Like why you posted your second photo in this thread and calling it a portrait is a mystery to me.

Thanks for sharing your views on what a portrait should and shouldn't be. Don't forget to go through some more threads and tell everyone that they're doing it wrong. Your help is much appreciated. :bang:
