Leica has used several different standards for sizing framelines over the years. The M6/M7/MP framelines are sized for 0.7 meters, the minimum focus distance, so as not to cut off the margins of the picture at that distance. The M8.2 framelines are set for 2M, while the M9 is sized for 1M.
Also, the 50mm frameline tends to be undersized on most Leicas made over the last 20 or 30 years. It actually covers about the same as a 60mm lens at a 10 or 15 foot distance.
So, how is it with the M 240? One meter? two meters? 0.7M? 50mm frame back to normal, or still smallish?

So, it's optimized for 2M, like the M8.2. Good to know, thanks!

By the way, did they correct the undersized 50mm frame line? Is it as large enough now to fairly represent what will be in the picture?

No way to have the 100% framing with RF using any Leica M.
Depending on the distance and the "real focal length" of the 50mm in use, the precise framing can't be done (and that parallax error ... is also in the way).
But with my M240, when I have some doubt about the framing in RF, I push the LV button ( if I have time to do so) , or use the EVF for that, as second type "100% framing".

I know. The field coverage changes with distance, of course. But as I wrote in my initial post, the 50mm frameline in film Leicas from M6 forward is dreadfully undersized; not just a little smaller like all the other framelines. How is it in the M240?
