Does anyone know whether M10s are now freely available in stores?
I’m in Tokyo - usually one of the best places for availability of Leica stuff, but I see that most stores still seem to have waiting lists for the camera.
Any idea when the waiting lists will subside?
Thanks.

It's not looking good:
I ordered one week after launch, i.e. end of January, at a Leica SF store; still waiting five months later

Holy moly... Back here in Germany (strangely one of the worst places usually for camera availability - including Leica...) most stores say about three months.
So I skipped this at the beginning of the year, but after a three months trip to Japan, where I bought a Fujifilm GFX just so on the first day of sale at BicCamera (really, I envy Japan for these possibilities), I decided to buy a M10 and found a few online from local German dealers readily available. I ordered one and had it a few days later. The big stores, OTOH, are all out of stock.
So maybe your best bet also would be to search the smaller stores, instead of Yodobashi or BicCamera and the like. Maybe you're lucky. Usually, when I'm in Japan, I often stroll through the camera stores and feel like a child in Santa Clause's storage room...

If you would drive to Wetzlar, could you get an M10 there is a shorter time period or is the waiting the same there at Leica AG?

You mean catching a Leica technician and then "from his cold dead hands"...?
I don't think so, when I looked at Leica's German homepage to order one, the estimated waiting time was as long as from the big Leica distributors here in Germany (Meister Camera, Calumet, ...)
It seems, they are distributed as the orders from dealers arrived and you have just to be lucky to find one, who has one left. Currently I could find 3-4 readily available here online.

Thanks for the comments - I will visit smaller stores here next week to see if I get lucky!

The best camera is one that still works!
Please check my eBay listings ... I have several available but payment needs to be made via wire transfer, no paypal sorry!
Leica M10 production seems to be extremely low - apparently even Leica Stores world wide have large M10 back orders.
That situation is not normal this long after the introduction of a new M type camera.
Why makes little difference since the results are the same - few M10's to deliver to customers.
According to one rumor, the delay is lack of sensors to complete the M10 cameras.

No wonder my files are so much larger now!
Wow, good ol' Leica. They will catch up with orders in a year or so more.

Usually it's no problem to get the last model - not the latest...
I often hear, that Leicas engineering is superior and really impressive - production planning is obviously not...

I just visited Map Camera in Tokyo (one of the best stores for Leica equipment). They quoted me 2 months waiting time for the silver M10 and 5 months for the black M10. Considering that the camera started shipping in January, I find that really surprising.

It's really typical for Leica. It takes about a year for them to catch up when it is a brand new model (and not a incremental model change).
