Leica m2 Question

There are three framlines in the M2, and three different types of adapters, Dave:

  • 28/90 will bring up 90mm framelines
  • 50/75 will bring up 50mm framelines
  • 35/135 will bring up 35mm framelines, also the default for the camera (no lens)

Best,

Roland.

With no adapter or the 35/135 adapter the 35mm frames are shown, with a 50/75 adapter you get the 50mm frames and with a 28/90mm adapter you get the 90mm framelines.

EDIT: Ah, ferider beat me to it.

There are a few different adapters that bring up certain framelines only. Of course you can mount a 35mm lens on a adapter meant for a 50/75mm lens, but the framelines you'll see would be a 50mm frameline. Thus, you might want to get adapters for the lenses you already have so as to skip the hassle of holding down the framelines preview lever.

Remember that the only difference between the adapters is an incy bit of metal on one of the flanges. You can always convert a 28/90 to 50/75 then that to 35/135, but you can't go the other way. Keep this in mind if you're buying 2nd hand - you could save some money/time.
