I recently got my Leica M2 CLA'ed. Everything seems to work fine but I've noticed a slightly darker band on top of my frames when I scan them.

For the most part, it's consistent throughout the frames but in some frames there appears to be none. Oddly, my Delta 3200 roll showed none of these dark bands, which leads me to think that it might be a shutter speed problem. Both the HP5+ 400 and Neopan 400 have showed these bands so far.

Moreover, when these darker bands do appear, they're not always consistently straight as you will see. Some of the bands have a wavy shape on the edges. Some also reach down further into the frame than others. When the bands do appear, they seem to carry over to the next frame continuously (as in you can follow the band). As a reminder, the darker band always appear on top of the frames.

Without further ado, here are some examples:

HP5+ 400 shot into the sky to demonstrate a relatively straight band:

Neopan 400 shot to demonstrate the occasional unevenness of the darker band:

I think I figured it out.

It is indeed some problem related to agitation and developing.

If anyone has a surefire answer before I investigate myself, please do enlighten me.

Whenever I have this band I always just think it's something to do with the reel not sitting at the bottom or not enough agitation..

Hi, the problem is not th camera....i´ve experienced darker bands on top and bottom of the film...they´re usually much darker and draw a perfect line...also the bands are narrower...

First i thought it was the camera, but after experiencing the same on my m9 i realised it´s lens flare...

As mentioned before in this post i think the problem is during development and more precisely i guess it happened when drying the film...

cheers!
