Big points to the seller for being honest and not coming up with an utterly implausable story to glamorize the listing.

If there ever was a perfect opportunity to use the old "I don't know anything about cameras, but..." line eh?
Could make a nice item for a glass case though...

edit: from the description, it appears to have been in fresh water. this could be fun to watch.

Apparently yes, freshwater, and if it was silted up then there might have been very little oxidation. I'll bet someone with a lot of optimism buys it for parts or repair . . . .

This reminds me of the ad of a similarly drowned M5 that was offered on the popular Dutch Marktplaats website. The seller claimed to be a companion of Prince Bernhard, husband of the then queen Juliana. Bernhard had dropped it in one of those African mudpools that he frequented as the founder and chairman of the World Wildlife Fund (or as a big game hunter, that he used to be before he became WWF founder). I don't know what the camera went for, but there was some heavy bidding on it. Come to think of it, this M3 could be the one that he lost the year before the M5

They should send someone back into the lake to get the goggles for the Summicron DR.....
A little squirt of WD40 should lose it all up

A little WD-40 here and there will have it up and running in no time...

I gues alot would depend upon wether it was in salt or fresh water... I imagine its all salvagable, but how much it would cost is aother matter.

Odds are most of the prisms have de-cemented or de-laminated; this alone would render the camera practically un-fixable.haagen_dazs said:the question is, do you think it is salvageable??
I'd be interested to see what kind of images (if any) the lens makes, though...

Salvagable? I thought it still worked!

The best camera is one that still works!
Nothing a can of black paint won't fix!
Ps ... for some fun ... I guess that it will go for $175.00!
