Just what the h*ll is this thing????
It`s got a WW2 (pre 1945 era) lens number - Maybe it was a prototype aerial photography lens?????? Something built for the military that`s for sure.
I think we`ll need a reinforced neck strap for this one and an accessory VF on the top plate, but even that would`nt work because the lens is in the way of everything!!!!

PS: I`m pretty sure this was mounted on a Aircraft camera housing, because it would be UNREAL on a Wartime era IIIC K - gee my camera would be lost behind this thing, but it would look pretty kool on a tripod don`t you think? - I better stick with a Xenon that`s fast enough! 😉

I haven't heard of that lens either - looks like some kind of monstrosity. The serial number is war time (I think), so perhaps some kind of aerial reconnasence lens? Or some other military use.
Coming from Photo Arsenal, I would deem the lens "one helluva expensive Coke bottle".

At 1m distance (assuming it can focus that close) the dof should be around 7mm, good luck with focusing !!!

If my memory serves me well, the 0.85/75 Summar is included in Scheerer's The Leica and the Leica System book. I don't own the book, but I recall the lens was made around 1934.
