Leica M3. Zeiss Hologon 16/8

I have tried using my Hologon with the M240, M9, and M8. The M8 crops the view to that of a 21mm lens, and then the colors in the edges are fine. This time, I tried using the Hologon with an M3 and some old film just to see the corners and the overall rendition. I may have underexposed images as I did not have with me a meter. I guessed the exposure. I may switch to a Bessa T next.

I will upload other images from same roll of film. I mailed it to Dwayne's Photo for developing and scanning.

Impressive, I particularly like the colour and clarity in the sky.


Out of interest, did you scan these on an Epson flatbed? The horizontal green/blue line visible in most of these shots occurs if the calibration area has any dirt on it. Easy fix, just clean with a microfibre cloth.
 
Thanks. The scanning was done "professionally" by Dwayne's Photo. Could these effects be due to an outdated film [maybe by 5 years]?

Unfortunately my fingers like to sing with it. So compact and wide I’d get my fingers in the frame.

I was stubborn, and I kept using digital cameras. I may simply attach a Bessa T to the lens and use it only with film. There is no need to focus, and the meter is excellent in the T.

edited: Just found out that the Bessa T does not work with the Hologon. I am leaving it on the M3.
 
Thanks. Yes, the lens seems to be very sharp with film. It is like a different lens as compared to using this lens with a digital camera.
 
Raid, is there no problem mounting the Hologon on your M3? The focusing lever of my Hologon hits the frame choosing lever of my M3 if I try to do this. Or do you have an M3 from the first series?


The line on your pictures can be caused by dirt on the scanner.

I converted 16/8 Hologon to M mount using mount replacing adapter. Focusing lever was hitting lens release button and frame selector lever. Some minor filing fixed button side. Bending focusing lever up a tiny bit fixed rubbing on selector side.
 
My M3 has serial number around 920k. It lets me easily mount on it the Hologon and then take photos. The Bessa T let’s me mount this lens on it, but no shutter release is then possible. If the scanner caused the fine line, this is OK.
I will most likely replace my M8 with the M3 this Summer during a trip.
