42. And a screen grab from the KS-15(4) repair manual, illustrating the frame line mask (6). The arrow points to the negative element I'm talking about.
Hello, I found one M4 that look in viewfinder got small lines like fungus surround middle focus patch and when I removed the top cover to look at the framelines unit also can see it. Any one could recommended the way to disassemble this unit out to clean it or it not worth?
Thanks.

Hi Chounws,
what you're seeing is probably delamination (the glass plates of the frame line mask are separating) so to fix this you'd need to remove the mask, dissolve the old glue and re-glue it (and re-align the frame lines etc...). My M4 has this as well and I haven't bothered to fix it yet as it's not super trivial...

Where is top post on gear located on first curtain rebound gear..does it rest against the slow speed lever in the shutter tripped position, or at the top corner so the bottom post barely engages the spring lever underneath?

I meant to say closing curtain rebound damper in the prior reply. But also, when setting the claw and shutter release wheel is there a small amount of overwind allowed so that the claw setting is not too tight with pressure on the rewind lever, requiring one or two gear overwind allowance? I am switching a 7 shutter curtain unit into a 7s and they seem to be the same but was not attentive enough on disassembly to ensure the set up is right before putting the curtain and roller unit into the 7s.

I am always amazed how well made internally the Canon 7 is...for a camera body that can be picked up in good running shape for 160 to 200 dollars these days.

This series is fascinating! I have never dismantled a camera, and was amazed at how complex the inards are. How did anyone conceive this; and then create it in metal. That our cameras still function after 60-70 years is a tribute to the engineers who designed them, and the workers who built them.
