Hey all, i have a leica m5 that has been great to me...except i recently tried to replace the battery and the cover just spins around and around and never lets go lol. I'm guessing the threads on the cover are stripped maybe? Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions? Thanks!

Try spinning while putting you camera sideways (battery area pointing to the floor). Spin a bit then test if it is loose and will come out. Test again till cap is released. Not sure if it is a common issue but my 2 Leica M5 I have had where like this. It is a bit tricky and was actually going to send my first Leica M5 to repair for this.

hmm .. there's a known issue with the leicaflex sl cover.
similar era, appears to be the same part ( i'm looking at both cameras as i type ).

* search RFF for the thread.

there is no 'backstop' to prevent the cover screwing too far into the body when no battery is fitted.

IIRC the solution involves temporarily gluing a screwdriver or similar shaped object to the cover then screwing it out carefully ...

maybe this will help ?
is it possible that there is no battery in your camera ?
