I stumbled upon a Konica M-Hexanon 28/2.8 lens this afternoon at a local camera shop. It appears new in the box with all caps, hood, instruction booklet, etc. I didn't have the M5 with me at the time. I will return tomorrow with the camera to make a final decision. My only concern is whether or not the rear element will interfere with the meter arm of the M5.

Can anyone confirm that the Konica 28mm lens will work on the M5 body?

After writing the above, I may have answered my own question. I did read elsewhere that the Konica 28mm lens works fine on the CLE body. Doesn't the CLE have a swinging arm meter cell similar to the M5?

Thanks for your help.

I think

I think

that the M5 does have a swinging arm with meter sensor on it.

The notes I have for the CL indicate that an Elmarit before s/n # 2314921 won't work on a CL, but I have no idea about the hexanon 28 and an M5.

Good luck, hope it works.

Well, if the M5 doesn't have the swinging arm ...

Yeah, it does have the swinging arm. But from the "Just waiting for the mail" thread, it looks like there's no problem mounting the Hexanon!

Alas, the new problem is lack of lens funds. If you're talking about my thread, the 28mm Rokkor isn't coming with the body. 🙄

I'll be lurking for a lens someday.

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack!

I'm back from that evil den of temptation, a.k.a. a Real Camera Store.

Here's what I learned:

1. The Konica 28mm lens does not interfer with the meter cell's swing arm.

2. Quite a bit of the lens is visible in the viewfinder.

3. The Konica lens brings up the 90mm frame in the M5 viewfinder. This is good. You can see the whole viewfinder frame if you wiggle your eye around.

4. The lens is about the same length as my 50 DR Summicron. It has a constant diameter and therefore looks and feels larger than the Summicron.

5. The controls are nice. The hood screws in. Once on, the outer ring of the hood rotates enough so that you can get the "arm of the hood out of the viewfinder frame. Clear as mud? The focus ring and aperture ring are easy to find and operate.

6. Did I mention that it is BLACK? It looks SOOOOOOOOOO right on the M5.

7. I don't think the lens has ever been used.

8. They made me an offer I couldn't refuse.

It's mine!

I need to have a garage sale! 😀

Yes, it's wonderful lens. Only problem I found so far is that it's a little bit soft in extreme corners. But I guess if I'd be putting anything important to those parts of the frame, there would be something terribly wrong with my composition, so I couldn't care less 🙂

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH! I'm not digital. I'm also the world's worst product photographer. Possibly the world's worst photographer. If you care to volunteer, I'll let my gear pose for you.🙂

Nope. I know where the other two are that came up on GOOGLE last night. 😱

EDIT: No worries, I wouldn't let you buy them. One was more than I paid. The other was obscenely more than I paid.
