Leica M6

Previously owned a Leica M4-2 and liked the small form of the Leica cameras. They are well built and have a great design that still lasts today. I was lucky to purchase the M6TTL on this forum from Hung and paired it up with a 50mm M-Hexanon. Had some some spare Natura 1600 and loaded that into the camera.

Shutter Sound: to be honest I don't mind noisy cameras. In fact I enjoy hearing the shutter on my Olympus OM-2n. The Leica M4-2 has the 'snick' metallic sound and compared to the M6, the sound is dulled and dampened (less metallic).

Focusing/Metering: never really an issue if you are use to focusing manually. The frame lines are bright and even in very dim conditions you can make out distinct lines to match. I feel like I 'see' differently when I can see outside the frame compared to a DSLR but it makes it more difficult to get architectural lines correct. The metering lights of the M6 do get distracting sometimes and its odd when you are using the 50mm frame lines, you have to check the metering outside the box and then divert your eyes back to within the frame lines. The meter is quite sensitive to and there is a bit of a learning curve for that.

Design: I really like how the dial and aperture corresponds to the metering arrows. It makes sense. The only issue I have with the design is that parts of the camera are prone to wear. This is quite evident below the film advance lever and the lever itself. Most people are surprised about the weight when they initially hold it but this is a good thing because the camera feels sturdy in the hands.

Conclusion: AWESOME camera.
