Leica M6 w/ wireless triggers?

I've been thinking about getting a pair of cheap wireless triggers for my M6 and I have no clue which one I should get. The ones I see on Amazon go as low as $20 and as high as $100+ and usually they say stuff like "For Canon/Nikon". If it matters any, I'll be using a 580ex II in manual mode.

I've been looking at the CowboyStudio NPT-04 (http://tinyurl.com/6orbwy5) but a comment on flickr stated that the flash does not trigger on the M6 until their finger gets off the shutter button which is quite problematic.

Any advice is appreciated :)
 
I have an M6 and the exact same triggers...I'll go check for ya! Gimme a minute.

Edit: Good news! Works fine either with the hot-shoe and the PC-sync port.
 
Well, I hate to revive a dead thread but I'll do it anyways.

Got my triggers in the mail today and it is not working well at all... Made a short video on them right here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kO6XXTcxxMU

The 580ex ii goes off just fine when using my 450D, Canonet QL17 and Pentax K1000 but it's pretty damn wonky on the M6. :(

Edit: Tried using the included cable this time. Cycled about 10 shots and it was all fine and dandy, but right after that it only started triggering half the time.
 
How strange! I can tell you that the triggers work about 90% of the time on mine. They misfire from time to time, but not any more on my M6 than any other camera...It looks like your issue is entirely different than the one you mentioned you had read about on Flickr, though; this just confuses the issue further.

Perhaps someone else can shed some light on this.

The guy ended up getting a Yongnuo RF-603 N to work on his M6 so I'm looking into checking those out. Now I have no idea what's the difference between N1, N2, N3...or if my 580 would even work on it (Aside from Sony, flash hot shoes are universal right?)

In any case I should be able to return my current unit to Amazon, which is nice.

Yeah the Cowboy Studios did not work at all for me. The Yongnou ones work perfectly. I use a Vivitar flash and have had no issues at all. Let me know if you have any questions.

@Ampersand_Jones: Thanks. I'm gonna borrow my friend's flash triggers in a couple of days and see how that works (Yongnuo RF-603 C3 -- The Canon model).

You ended up getting the Nikon version correct?
 
Yes. I was told that the Leica Hot shoe was more similar to a Nikon hot shoes and I would likely get better results. I'm not positive that really mattered or not though.

I prefer the RF602 over the newer 603. They left away the tripod thread on the RF603, making it more difficult to attach the flash to lighting stands, superclamps and so on. Using the same device as sender and receiver isn't much of an advantage to me in practice; TTL passthrough doesn't work; and the Yongnuo-specific camera release cable on the RF602 doesn't bother me as I have several.
 
I have the YN603 for Canon and they do not work on my M8 and yongnuo flash. I don't get the green lights that indicate pairing. Th triggers work very well with my Fuji x100. It doesn't work with my Bessa R2 either.

Once I went to a dealer selling the YN's and tried the Nikon version for a few minutes. Didn't work either. I'm not sure if there's any difference between cameras and hot shoe but I ended up getting a really cheap China version (Godox) that does work. Build quality is terrible though.
 
Well that's a bit of a bummer. If worst comes to worse, I might have to settle for using a cord to get the flash off camera...

@rxmd: haha, I'm not looking for anything sophisticated since I'll be using it on M mode and I don't really plan on attaching it to a stand too often.

EDIT:
Well, tried out the RF-603 today and it doesn't work at all. The M6 is picky as hell when it comes to wireless transmitters...

Might have to go wired but I have no idea what I should be looking for.
